Metrohm together with USP have started updating numerous wet chemistry methods for pharmaceutical analysis. This newsletter presents some recently modernized methods including an optimized titration method and a new IC method for zinc oxide assay.

Optimised USP titration method
The optimized USP titration method replaces the visual endpoint detection by automatic potentiometric determination. Users benefit from safer liquid handling and more accurate results. Here are some applications.

New IC Method recommended
USP has updated the General Chapter <591> «Zinc Determination» monograph to include ion chromatography as the recommended method for measuring zinc oxide assay.
The new IC method is approved by the FDA and benefits users with more ease of use and better data reproducibility.

NEW single-use data loggers

NEW single-use data loggers

Pharmaceutical Industries

Two new single-use USB data loggers for temperature monitoring of temperature sensitive goods during transport: the EBI 330-T30 and the EBI 330-T85. These loggers are ideal for Pharmaceutical or life science shipments where returning a more expensive multi-use logger after a shipment is difficult. All the user must do is: start the logger and place it with the shipment. The receiver simply plugs it into a computer, and is able to read the automatically generated pdf report. There are no further hassles with returning the logger to the sender!
